Our AKS are arranged under the following domains: Numbers and Operations in Base Ten, Geometry, Measurement and Data, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, and Fractions. In order to learn the skills that are required, a math workshop model will be used. There will be a whole group lesson where skills and concepts are explained and modeled while students take notes and practice the skill in their math journals. Students will then get into groups and will rotate through the following: meet with the teacher, math games, and independent work on problem solving and computation practice. Number talks will also be a daily component of the overall mathematics program.
